- CHENGDOO 2011 Annual Readers' Poll: and the winner is ...
Ridiculous that Peter's Tex Mex is the best foreign restaurant.
This place is the reason why most Chinese say western food is bad

- Weekend getaway: Dujiangyan
Entrance fee is 90RMB (up 10 since the article).
Take the number 4 bus instead of a taxi. Drops you off in front of the main entrance. Trip is about 20min.

at least i don't subscribe to a website the day an article is posted just to blame western culture....
I'm just being objective, some things (negative and positive) are because of western culture creeping in, but this one isn't

First you need to know what road rage is:
"Road rage is aggressive or angry behavior by a driver of an automobile or other motor vehicle. Such behavior might include rude gestures, verbal insults, deliberately driving in an unsafe or threatening manner, or making threats. Road rage can lead to altercations, assaults, and collisions which result in injuries and even deaths. It can be thought of as an extreme case of aggressive driving."
So yes, you see road rage on chinese roads every day, long before western culture was introduced to China.....Thinking that western culture is the reason for this death is just plain IGNORANT

"contagion of western culture" "road rage has arrived in Chengdu". The only sad thng is your opinion/comment. There isn't a moment without road rage the way Chinese people drive... cutting people off, honking non stop, changing lanes without looking/indicating, breaking like fools. Western culture has nothing to do with this, this is just a product of the chinese "me first" culture. Wether it's a parking space, getting on the bus or finding the best spot to take a picture from... eventually the pushing, shoving and elbowing gets to you... western or chinese

you're talking about the Saturday tournament style game
There's a cash game on sundays. No blind changes, no timer, no 1st place takes all. Just a normal texas hold'em cash game, good fun
Buy-in when you want, 1 big blind notice to cash out early

Chengdu > Hooters
美国猫头鹰餐厅Hooters minus the hooters, but with ridiculous dance routines every half an hour
Food and drinks are quite expensive and for some reason all their beers taste flat and watered down

Chengdu > KaffeStugan
咖啡斯特特嘉Want good coffee and pastry? Stop spending your money at Starbucks and try this place!
You'll walk away having spent less and not complaining about watered down flavorless coffee.
They have coffee from around the world, as well as a nice selection of pastry and sandwiches.
Plus, 10th drink is free

Chengdu > Tandoor Indian Cuisine
坦道印度餐厅Great taste, but smallish portions for a high price. Don't expect paying less than about a 100 kuai per person (main dish, side dish and drink).
The higher price is worth it though, as the quality of the food and the service/decor are by far the best I've experencied so far in Chengdu (as far as Indian restaurants go).

Chengdu > Le Sud
南方法国餐厅Avoid the pasta dishes as they lack both seasoning and flavor. The pizza's are ok, but lack seasoning as well.
The meat dishes however are VERY good, albeit a bit pricey. Try the lamb!
Overall this is a good place to eat western food, but wouldn't call it French cuisine as maybe 3 out of 12 dishes are French. On a side note: it's pretty bad for a French restaurant to serve ice-cold red wine... even in China.

Chengdu > Peter's Tex-Mex
彼德西餐The cheese on our nachos wasn't melted anymore by the time they got to our table. Same for the cheese enchilladas. They "reheated" it, but that didn't change much.
The chicken fajita sandwich was ok, and the waffle fries were good.
Very pricey for Chengdu though
