Looking for a flatmate in Yulin (1200RMB per month)
Classifieds > Housing > Apartments For RentOur flatmate has just gone back to the US and one of his rooms can be yours for the taking, right now!
We live in a two story apartment in Yulin, on the intersection of Fangcao Jie (芳草街) and Fangcao Dong Jie (芳草东街). The apartment complex as well as the apartment itself is new and looks great, however there is no elevator and the apartment is spread out across the 6th and 7th floor.
The top floor has a large garden and an air-conditioned sunroom, great for parties, barbecues and currently used as a home-office/studio/napspace.
The floor below has a kitchen (microwave + washing machine but no oven, yet), toilet (decent shower, western toilet and a BATH!), sunny living room with a great big sofa, TV, Wifi and a veranda.
Your room will have AC, a large bed with a good mattress and a wide variety of storage space and cupboards. It looks out on to a quiet courtyard, so the noise is minimal.
You'll be sharing the flat with two guys in their mid twenties from UK and Spain, who are working and studying here.
The bills come to around 1-200 per month and we have a cleaner that comes three times a week to clean the house, tidy the garden, do the laundry and do some cooking on occasion. We pay her 1000 per month and that would also need to be split between us.
Give me a call if you are interested – 186 1574 9983

Forums > Living in Chengdu > Chinese Visa for a British Citizen in HK
Has anyone recently applied for a Chinese (L) visa in HK? If so what was the length of stay that was granted? Also any recommendations for reliable and reasonably priced agents in HK would also be appreciated.
Cheers.

Forums > Living in Chengdu > Solicitor/Notary Public for a Deed Poll (name change application)
Hi, I'm applying for a name change (Deed Poll) and my application needs to be witnessed by an English Speaking solicitor/notary public. Could you please recommend one to me. Also has anyone on this forum changed the name on their British passport while living in China? How does this process work?
I would appreciate any information.
Regards

酒窝Best Quality:Price Wine in Chengdu
(by a huge margin)I have been going to this place for the best part of the year and I love it, not least because it remains pretty obscure. I'm now worried that my personal contributions aren't going to keep their business afloat; so please give it a go, you won't regret it.
The decor recently received an upgrade and no longer looks savaged by someone with a fetish for metal, concrete and torturous seating. It's comfortable, offers a reasonable amount of privacy, if needed, and is generally very pleasant. The curtains separating 'the booths' still feel like they've been pulled out of a bordello, but that just adds to the charm.
The food still feels like it's flown in from somewhere very far away, but at least it arrives warm and they are happy to offer their hangry customers a discount (or some complimentary stuff) if you ask. The owner is usually cool with ordering in shaokao, noodles or chuancai from nearby restaurants... some of which actually go surprisingly well with wine.
In contrast to the review below, I find the pricing to be sober compared to other places offering wines, and I'm not exactly working at Chevron. Though you might have to fork out for a bottle to really feel the value.
