- Chengdu: Skimpily dressed women bust sloppily parked cars
The skimpy clothes are the reason they make the news. If they wore jeans and weren't attractive, how many papers would pick up the story? "Earnest Blue-Stockings bust sloppily-parked cars" just doesn't have the same ring to it. These girls obviously have an exhibitionist streak but at least they are putting it to practical use.

Forums > Living in Chengdu > Naturopathic Doctor in Chengdu?
There is a Canadian chiropractor here who knows about natural medicine, she runs a business called Tianfu Wellness and you can contact her at karen@tianfuwellness.com She is not a naturopathic doctor but she is a very good chiropractor and also does acupuncture and other therapies and can advise on diet etc. I see a naturopathic doctor in the UK and Karen is the closest I have found here in Chengdu.

Forums > Travel Sichuan > Ski-ing: Xiling Snow-capped Mountain
We went there for a day a few years ago. You need to leave chengdu very early in the morning to make it worthwhile, we left at 8 am and with delays on the road didn't get up the mountain until afternoon, we met another family who had left at 6 and they got a full days ski-ing. My husband and son rented skis and ski-ed for a couple of hours but there are only a few runs and most people there are complete beginners. It's not much if you are used to ski-ing in north america or europe, but maybe better than nothing. And it's a good day out, the kids can play in the snow and the cable car ride is fun. You can also hike down (or up) the mountain, and there are several hotels to stay in, but I don't think anyone spends more than a couple of days there.

Forums > Living in Chengdu > American Family choosing a school
Hi sthrn1s,
We have a ten year old (and a five year old) son at QSI and I would also be happy to talk with you about our experience with the school. My son has played a wide variety of sports there over the past 6 years. You can email me at cPlatt55@hotmail.com if you want to get in touch.
In terms of sports, there are community activities in addition to those provided by the schools. Chengdu Youth Sports League has two soccer seasons a year, the next one will start in March. There are also a couple of tennis teachers in town who offer group lessons for kids. You can find information on the Chengdu International Women's Club website or I can email you the details. All the best.

Chengdu > Pizza Mandolino
披萨曼陀玲I decided to try Pizza Mandolino because, although some people have had bad experiences, it has also had some good reviews, so I thought I should see for myself. But I am sad to say I have to agree with the poor reviews: the food is very disappointing.
I went there for lunch with a friend, so they were not busy and the service was reasonable. On the plus side, the ambience and decor are very pleasant, the pizza ovens are attractive, the seating is comfortable. You can even catch a glimpse of the kitchen, which looks spacious and sparkling clean, surely a good sign.
There were two Italian men there, whether chefs or owners I am not sure, but neither of them so much as looked in our direction, which I thought was a missed opportunity on their part, not to try and build their customer base and get to know potential repeat guests. When Peter Pan first opened the staff were super-friendly to everyone who went along and Claudio still makes everyone feel welcome and makes a point of recommending dishes etc.
My friend wanted to order a bottle of wine, but the first 4 or 5 bottles on the wine list that he asked for were not available! He ended up ordering a more expensive wine, but said that they should have offered a discount under the circumstances. The main problem with this place is that the food does not live up to the environment. The bread was good, the pizza was not bad, but the soups (we tried one beef and one bean soup) were mediocre, the salad was plain and boring and the fried Naples starters were greasy and unappetising.
A restaurant that has put this much effort into decor and environment should try to match it with the quality of their food, especially if they have two Italians in charge! The food at the very plainly decorated Abluza behind Carrefour is way better, in my opinion.
I would go here for pizza if you live right next door and it's raining too hard to go any further. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.
