Forums > Living in Chengdu > Tongzilin apartment experiences
My husband and I are currently looking for somewhere to live in tongzilin or yulin area. Our budget is anywhere from 2500-4000, basically were looking for best quality-for-money-ratio. We love gardens so a nice well manicured garden's a plus. Our last place (different city, in china) was rife with screaming kids with their grandma's. A building up to code is important-earthquake proof. We looked at singapore gardens, shanghai gardens, st. nature, and europe city. So far we like shanghai gardens the best, its quiet, right next to a great park (shenxianshu).
If anyone can offer some advice let us know

Chengdu > Rice plus
普乐快餐厅The first thing we noticed when arriving at Rice Plus is the wonderful scent of spices. The atompshere is lacking and customer service is what would be expected in China. It is Japanese owned so no real excuse for poor service...however, the food is inexpensive and quite tasty. The Internet never works and the staff is actually quite comically bad! Lots of giggles...definitely recommend take-out. The location is depressing and the drink selection weak. Take it home.

Chengdu > KaffeStugan
咖啡斯特特嘉Forgot to mention....while waiting for the pug to open at 5 pm we were stopped in to Kafestuggan for a coffee. Awesome. Iced coffee could not be better...rich, not watered down and addictive. Cool little coffee cubes. We did not try the food...yet...but will be back!

Chengdu > The Lazy Pug
懒巴哥We finally got around to trying the lazy pug this week and loved it! A collegue of mine is a regular there and raves about the place. Where the hell in Chengdu (or China) are you asked, "how is your meal???" a few minutes in! Sounds simple...but not in China!
By far and away, Chengdu's best and most authentic american/western restaurant! Nachos were golden perfect and huge with a generous sprinking of jalapenos and homemade sour cream. We're kind of nacho experts (were from texas) and every other place we've tried is just sad-but the pug's nachos would be brilliant at home too! Really great seirvice, great music, real professional quality place. We'll absolutely be coming back often for the nachos and enchiladas.
Highly recommended are the martini's too-my husband had 3 Hendriks' martini's with stuffed blue cheese olives. The coconut martini was awesome too with thai coconut milk. Great place were lucky to have here in chengdu!

Chengdu > Peter's Tex-Mex
彼德西餐We live near peters so its really convienent, but that's where it ends. It would be great if there was anything positive I could say about this place, but we were really disappointed. The guacamole was a joke, the burger tasted strange (the flavor of the meat was off) and the fajitas were downright bad (and kind of expensive too!). The hokey atmosphere is beyond cheesy (were from houston and were gritting our teeth) and the music (when we went anyway) was ridiculous. The only positive thing I can think of is its apparently clean and the wireless worked fine.
