- Welcome to GoChengdoo!
Just want to give my praise on how awesome this website is. I've lived in many countries and I think GoChengdoo magazine and the site are above par to other expat info sites and magazines out there. I appreciate all those responsible for it! Because of this site, I found a place to live, avoided catastrophic dining incidents, found a home for my pet bunny, had part-time teaching experiences and got an invitation for a photo exhibition. And I'm sure even after I've left, I will still be on here to read the entertaining articles. In an attempt to be fair, I'm trying to think of any improvements that could be made and so far, none come to me. At first the layout took some getting used to but savvier now. :) Continue the amazing job! You are helping tons of people!

Sorry to hear you had that issue. I've never had anything come close to that happening and I could be labeled a frequent shipper (domestic and international). I've even taped up my boxes in front of them (at posts in Lijiang, Dali, and of course, Chengdu many times). It almost sounds like a one-time incident...
Definitely try another post. I've sent items out at the one near the Xinnanmen bus station and the ladies there were very nice.
In regards to the rest of the questions, I agree with Jane and Matt above in regards to tracking being available and surface shipping, etc.

Quick question - is is possible to get the license same-day? Or is it mailed to the address on the form?
Thanks...

Forums > Living in Chengdu > Looking for fellow Rock Climbers
Thanks you all... for all the tons of great information. It seems Chengdu has its own cozy, little climbing community. I hope to meet you all at one time or another. I'm not there yet but will be in a couple days. See you at the wall - or crag....the outdoor climbing trip sounds fun! Look forward to meeting. Christine

Chengdu > Fiesta Thai
非常泰餐厅Not the best Thai food I've ever had but I actually like it and have eaten here 5-6 times. The minced beef is so good but yes, too oily. They also have light fare and vegetarian...they have a vermicelli noodle soup with vegetables that is not very Thai but good. The green curry is fair - it wasn't bad at all. They have a great assortment of drinks...fresh coconuts they open for coconut water. Pretty decent dessert selection - Chinese mostly but light/fruity. The service is friendly - I think I've had to wait longer at some times when they are busy but I'll keep going back.

Chengdu > Banana Leaf Thai Restaurant
芭蕉叶泰国餐厅Bad. Really bad. I ordered the Malaysian red curry and what came out was thick, brown gravy filled with potatoes and meat. I didn't eat the meat because the gravy had way too much flavor (overflavored...and I love strong, Sichuan flavored food...but this was bad). I took a bite and left. The service was poor; it took a long time and when I said politely :), that I was sorry but the taste was poor, they shrugged their shoulders and walked away. Singing dancing? Hawaiian/hula skirts=Thai? I've found a liking to Fiesta Thai near the bus station. Some of their food is more local style but their green curry, their Thai beef and soup is awesome..and they use real coconut milk. BL doesn't seem to have the Thai flavor down because the sauces were super thick...and no coconut milk taste.
非常差我订的马拉西亚咖喱 - 太咸. 味道太重(但我最喜欢吃重川菜的味道)。这个不是真正的泰国美食。我吃的一口就走了.服务也不满意。等很久.

Chengdu > Cacaja Indian Restaurant
印度菜菜The service was satisfactory - pleasant staff. The food was probably on the lowest standards I've ever had; I frequent Indian restaurants all over quite a bit. I had the palak paneer and the cheese was not good;not sure if that's what gave the spinach its odd flavor. Also had the Aloo Matar which was just so-so. The mixed vegetable pullav was just "okay" too. Quite disappointing. Tandoor is still on the top of my list for quality although it's a little pricier - it's worth it for the fresh quality difference.

Chengdu > Harmony Dental Clinic
Absolutely awesome - better than other dentists that I've had in many parts of the world. Wonderful, friendly staff - clean facility, sealed/sterilized items - one of the main dentists speaks English very well. He seemed to genuinely care. I'm so appreciative of a place that has great customer service! Thanks to the staff and this site and the folks below for the recommendations - they were spot-on. Christine

Chengdu > The Sultan Turkish & Middle Eastern Restaurant (Halal)
苏坦土耳其餐吧蟑螂餐厅....太多蟑螂....里面的食物有蟑螂.如果你还要去,小心吃的茄子骤降. : / I was going here often so I'm not sure how many cockroaches I've eaten but I'm sure it's provided me some protein...and maybe also contributed to my tummy aches. I finally had enough the last time I was there when not only did I find a roach in my eggplant, tomato, garlic dip (which is uncooked...they serve it cold which might be worse than heating the food) but also the roaches were running all over the seats and the cashier counter. I pointed it out to the waitress and she just scared it away. They keep the kitchen covered so you can't see that the silverware/plates have been trodden on by hairy, brown legs that have surely touched every type of dirt that exists in the town. I'm sad because the service wasn't too bad (at least the young lady) but the hummus was pretty damn good. Although it might have been the added roach flavor?
