    • Chengdu > Southwest University for Nationalities
      西南民族大学

While I'm not experiencing the true university experience here, I am experiencing the foreigner's university experience here through the USAC program. The campus as a whole is an excellent one in my opinion, fully equipped with a small park like area in the middle, basketball courts, pingpong tables, tennis courts, and a gym. There are plenty of restaurants near by with the Tibetan district right outside the west gate, the first ring road outside the south gate, and small noodle shops, bakeries and baozi shops outside the east gate. The staff of the university with whom I've encountered has been amazing. The teachers have been helpful and knowledgeable, the buildings nice (yet often cold in the winter), and the cafeteria cheap. If you're trying to return into the dorms in the evening, a quick warning that the other gates close and you must enter through the south gate.

    • Chengdu > Auchan
      欧尚

While simply being another massive supermarket like Carrefour, I found Auchan to be more spacious, better organized, and a tad bit cheaper on certain products. If you're a Carrefour regular and really searching for a few yuan price difference I suggest checking Auchan out. It's another French megamart, with what seemed as a larger import section, among other areas.

    • Chengdu > Peter's Tex-Mex
      彼德西餐

I enjoy the relatively quite atmosphere here every week. They have excellent milkshakes for those who crave a taste of home, yet sadly they are often out of Malt. Their menu is very extensive. While lacking a few of the key 'tex-mex' meals and being a little pricier than what one is used to paying in Chengdu, for a foreign cuisine restaurant, the food is well priced and quite tasty.

    • Chengdu > Mooney's Bar
      香格里拉大酒店爱尔兰吧

      Seems like a good place.

Nice food. I had the Fish and Chips, my friend had the Tandoor Pizza, both were good. In fact, I didn't think the food prices were too expensive (unless you want to order some Aussie Beef... and I don't count... ;)).

Drinks aren't cheap, but there are more expensive bars around though.

Unfortunately, the Scotty Wright jazz performance we went to see tonight (advertised here on GoChengDoo) had been switched to last night (Valentines Day)...

      :((

Got to see Scotty when he turned up for some dinner tonight though...

I saw advertisements for a New Zealand (cover?) band who start in March. I think they're called Solidaz.

      I'll be back.

    • Chengdu > The Sultan Turkish & Middle Eastern Restaurant (Halal)
      苏坦土耳其餐吧

Very satisfied with the food here. Ordered mostly appetizers and veg dishes to keep the cost down. Definitely recommend the bread. The hookah took a little to start up so we asked the waitress for more coal and after that it was no problem. 4 of us ate pretty well and had hookah for about 45 RMB each.

    • Chengdu > Cacaja Indian Restaurant
      印度菜菜

Food was good, some dishes were better than others. I normally don't complain about service. but it definitely sucked and the food arrived at odd times. Some dishes seemed to be hanging around to the point where the heat was lost. Worth trying once, maybe.

    • Chengdu > Le Café Paname
      巴黎咖啡

Good Western bar with some pretty decent music and multiple drink specials throughout the night.

    • Chengdu > Carrefour
      家乐福

Giant department store with a little corner of the store dedicated to imported goods. Not a good place to go to if you're hung over. The tons food samples are always a nice surprise though.

    • Chengdu > Jinsha Site Museum
      金沙遗址博物馆

Interesting site, very beautiful architecture and artifacts. Opt for the "4D" movie if you like the music from Lord of the Rings and don't mind being shot in the face with water.

    • Chengdu > DoDo's Café
      朵朵家咖啡馆

The idea of no MSG is good but it takes so long to get your food. They refused to change music and refused when I asked for a lottery ticket reciept.

    • Chengdu > Dairy Queen

My favourite is the blizzard with oreos even when they have new promos I still only order this one. Whenever I shop in the mall I go to buy one but I don't like being pressured into buying a bigger size. I like the small.

    • Chengdu > Café Z

I have been several times. I had breakfast there twice and once had lunch. It 's great. I don't remember the themes but they were great. I love the chocolate fountain. I had never seen one before and I could spend hours just watching it but the strawberries drew me in and I went back many times. The desserts are great. Lots of different cakes and nuts and almost anything you could ask for. The staff could speak English with even some Native chefs walking around. On a side note the bathrooms are outside the restaurant but wow they are fancy. Clean and shiny and almost always empty.

    • Chengdu > Cabral Brazilian BBQ
      卡布罗尔巴西烤肉

The wait staff are welcoming. The meat is delicious. I had lunch there so it was cheaper. The salads are sub-par. My point is the BBQ part is good and the non-BBQed part is not so good.

    • Chengdu > Ajisen Ramen
      味千拉面

I like the noodles here especially the one with the pickled vegetables on top. The broth that it comes in is also really good and nutritious. The staff is really nice without asking they gave me the fa paio(lottery ticket reciept).

    • Chengdu > Circle Live Pub
      圈子酒吧

I like this venue a lot better than Little Bar, except it is pretty far from my place (Zong Bei/Yulin).

It has a lot wider space rather than the long setup at Little Bar (when you're stuck in the back and can't see anything), so it's easier to get close up to the band.

    • Chengdu > Le Sud
      南方法国餐厅

      Great food!

A friend and I went all out with an appetizer (delicious bread with tapenade!), dinner, dessert, wine and coffee, and it was less than 90 kuai.

The lamb was excellent and the dessert with coffee was a nice finish.
