    • Anyone got one? Where did you buy it? Does the water taste better than the bottled water? Would like to hear your experiences.

    • Yes

      We bought a mistubishi rayon water filter. You can get them online or go to any big deapartment store in Chengdu. We paid around 1000rmb it fits directly on your tap.

    • Yes, Qinyuan brand from Carrefour for a few hundred...we got it after someone told us lots of bottled water suppliers just use the public water supply anyway, not sure how much truth there is to that. A replacement filter unit is about 50 yuan, but after almost two years of use they told us it still does not need to be changed. The water does taste better. We also boil it before pouring it through the filter, though supposedly that is not a common step.

    • B&Q on Hang Kong Lu also has Brita filter products.... I prefer this as I like to keep my water cool in the fridge.

    • thanks you all for your answers. at rmb1000 and Rmb50 for filters it's even cheaper than the bottled water anyways, and that water tastes weird (the cheap and the expensive one).

    • The big furniture mall next to Galeria Mall (just north of Ikea) on the main floor, north side there are 4-6 water filter dealers selling mostly advanced, high-end water filters, but they are really, really nice. Most of the filters are the undersink style with 3-4 individual cartridges, and prices seemed to be anywhere from 2,000-10,000 RMB.

      I don't know much about filters, but did stop into the Culligan store. This is a US company which is very reputable. They actually sell a water dispenser with a nice filter installed inside it, so when you put your water bottle on you get nice filtered water out of it. I'll probably buy that one just to make the bottled water taste a bit better. Good luck.

    • They have several different water filters that you can find at any Chinese supermarket. The cheapest is the brita style pitcher which I saw at Carrefour about 6 weeks back for several hundred. I've used this for awhile and personally feel that you get what you pay for. It depends on what you can afford to be honest. You can get delivered water for 2-300 a year (if that), a cheap water filter for let's say 399, a counter top water filter for 6-700 and then the high end stuff that goes into the several thousands.

      Outside of China in other Asian countries you can get a really nice Panasonic water filter for less than 500 RMB but I still haven't seen this sold inside of Mainland China. I personally brought one from the US that costs me $82.00 (http://www.amazon.com/[...] and it lasts about 1 1/2 - 2 years without replacing the filter. This includes using the water for just about everything except bathing.

      The water tastes significantly better than any other filter I've used in the past. I hope this helps

      thanks. it's a bit over my budget atm, probably something for the bigger and loaded expat family:)

      @coryg
      cheers. currently we pay RMB450 for water delivery for two people. but last time they brought a different brand "blue sword" and delivered with a giggle, probably because it tastes horrible. anyways i want to drink good water, i loved just drinking tap water back home.

    • My parents are using a Hexagon Water Filter. It works really well and i feel like the water tastes clean. Its an expensive filter but has a really long durability. You can attach it to your tap. ( i saw some cheap prices around under 1000rmb range on taobao tho... not sure if thats right.)

      Btw whats wrong with Nongfu spring water, i feel thats the best brand out there and for now im only drinking that. It tastes ok for me.
