Ice hockey/Ice skating

  • Hi
    Can anybody provide information about ice rinks in Chengdu?
    Ice hockey is my favorite hobby and I'm looking for ice to play with somebody or at least to skate.

  • 冠军溜冰场 aka Champion Rink at 富力天汇/ FuliTianhui/ Uno (aka Panda Mall) (6th floor) next to the Chengdu Stadium (subway station Luomashi) looks the best, very new (opened last May).

    This one also has ice hockey.

    Tel. 65307693 . Open 10 a.m. till 9.30 p.m.

    They have a lot of different prices it seems, but it's around RMB50 for 90min (sometimes for 2hours) and the Chinese net there are tons of promotions where you get massive discounts.

    I think the Sichuan university campus has one rather old rink.

    Baidu spits out a lot of places, but I doubt it's correct or still updated, sometimes places used to be ice skaing rinks, but are now transformed into something else (usually billiard halls)

  • They have an English version of the site on the homepage, but it's for the rink in Beijing. I checked and despite their promos there is currently no ice hockey there. Prices are RMB30 till 11.30 a.m. RMB40 till 5 p.m. and RMB50 after that. It probably makes sense to get one of the many membership option if you plan to go more often. Place looks nice and clean, but tall guys with bigger shoe sizes might have problems.

  • Yesterday I skated in UNO Mall, service guys told me that unfortunately no ice hockey at the rink. I got cell phone number of local teacher, but I guess in Chengdu lack of hockey interest. But I hope we can find some amount of people to organize hockey meetings. I've already found where we can buy all protection on-line in China.

  • I have been looking for some other hockey players, but unfortunately the rink does not allow you to bring the gear or have hockey at all, as poison said. I know quite a few ppl who have rented the place out for private parties and such... Any chance to rent it for an hour or so for a stick and puck if enough interest and cheap enough?

  • so, already not bad :) 2 of us, maybe we have more... I think we can rent it and play, cuz if they have teacher, it means that before we played. Also teacher can join us, why not. We can start from 2-5 people and then organize Chengdu team ;)
